This is a well struck melbourne minted 1964 penny with fine hair detail and clear designers initials at the base of the portrait.  Some carbon flecking through the planchet add an attractive uniqueness to this particular coin.

Now we can only guess as to why this coin did not achive an MS65 grade from PCGS but there is an interesting flaw to this coin not visible in the image. Directly behind the top of the roos leg is a small figure 8 incuse in the surface. This is a strike-through, probably cotton which has got in between the die and the blank planchet during striking.

Note: The tiny white flecks in the reverse image are tiny scratches on the surface of the slab, not on the coin.
