Recommended Holders for Purple Penny Polypropylene Coin Album Pages

Our 100% PVC Free and Softener Free coin album pages are the ideal solution for the long term storage of your coin collection.  However, one question needs to be answered about them.  What 2x2 coin holders should be used to hold the coins before placing them in our specially designed polypropylene coin album pages.  Currently we have have two recommendations.

Holders We Recommend

1. Staple type 2x2 coin holders with a mylar window.  I wrote a long article on how to use 2x2 coin holders on our weblog. It's worth blowing off any cardboard residue from such coin holders before you use them. Simple air blowers can be purchased from photography shops.
2. Mylar 2 pocket 2x2 flips or 'SAFLIPS'. These holders are made from stiff PET which is an inert plastic completely PVC Free. They are used and recommended by the American Numismatic Association.

Holders We Do Not Recommend

1. Self adhesive 2x2 coin holders. Sure these are inert enough but the glue that holds them DOES separate over time and the coins move and end up with glue residue on them. Bad news and we strongly recommend against their use.
2. Any sort of PVC flip at all, this even includes the supposed 'acid' free PVC flips. What's the point of a nice PVC free coin album and album page if you're just going to put a PVC flip in it to ruin your coins?
