Round badge with cross shaped centre measuring 30mm x 33mm with suspension at bottom for bars. Issued for the South Australian School Patriotic Fund in World War 1. Gilt metal with blue enamel circle and red enamel cross. The legends read “S.A. CHILDREN’S PATRIOTIC FUND” around the blue border. The cross legend reads “WAR SERVICE”. Enamel worn with some missing areas. Reverse pin missing and replaced with bent pin. Initials scratched into back. Marked by the maker “STOKES & SONS MELBOURNE”. An affordable example of a hard to find badge.
