Australian pre decimal coins were issued with dates from 1855 through to 1964.  In that time official Australian coins included half pennies, pennies, threepences, sixpences, shillings, florins, crowns, half sovereigns and sovereigns.  Gold coinage (sovereigns and half sovereigns) were minted with dates from 1855 to 1931.  Silver pre-decimal coins were minted from 1910 to 1963, while bronze pennies and half pennies can be found with dates from 1911 to 1964.

The period of Australian pre decimal coinage  saw coins minted in Australian branches of the Royal Mint in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.  Bronze coins were also minted in the Royal Mint (London) and Bombay (India).  Silver coins were also minted in the Royal Mint (London), and during World War 2 in San Francisco and Denver in the USA.

Typically pre-decimal coins sold by us will be graded by either PCGS or NGC.  This provides confidence in the grade of coins we sell, and assurance that the coins have not been harshly cleaned.
